Definitions of Commonly used Words

    

   Apparition
— A ghostly figure or spirit.

    Ectoplasm — The luminous, vaporous substance believed by spiritualists to emanate from
   a medium in a trance.

    EVP — Electronic Voice Phenomena — anomalous voices or other sounds, often purported
    to be of paranormal origin, heard on electronic audio recordings.

    Energy — A spirit or ghost, as well as non-intelligent anomalies such as residual hauntings.

    Medium — A person through whom communications are thought to be sent to the living
    from spirits of the dead. A medium may also be able to see spirits or ghosts.

    Mist — Swirling energy that resembles fog illuminated by light.

    Orb — Often seen as spherical in shape, an orb is believed to be the easiest form in
    which energy can travel. It can be a variety of colors.

    Paranormal — Beyond the range of normal experience or scientific explanation.

    Psychic — A person who is supposedly sensitive to nonphysical or supernatural forces
    and influences: marked by extraordinary or mysterious sensitivity, perception, or 
    understanding.

    Residual Energy — An energy imprint left behind by tragic or common events. Many
    times it acts like a looped video playing over and over, sometimes on the anniversary
    of an event.

    Vortex — A high-energy signature that can act as an entryway from the spirit world.
